How To Clean Your Room

I am not the person to have a messy room, it stresses me out. That doesn’t mean I’m super great at keeping it clean though. My best tip for keeping it clean is to not put it off. Don’t put your shoes in the wrong spot and say you’ll clean it later, because suddenly everything is in the wrong place and you have three baskets of unfolded laundry with no time or energy to clean it. So instead of lettin
g pile up, just do it while it’s something little. Here is a little list of things that help me when my cleaning list feels too long or when I’m doing a deep clean.
PLAYLIST
First off, make a playlist of songs you like. Ones that make you happy or at least keep you in a good mood. Hype songs are good too, but you don’t want them all to be hype, because that’s too much energy wasted. Any songs except for ones that’ll put you in your feels. Once you’re in your feels, it gets very hard to stay motivated and not want to give up.
LIST
Make sure you have a goal. Don’t let what you want to clean stay vague. Be intentional with your cleaning and the time you have to clean. So if your surface cleaning, wherever you like to pile things and however you keep things off your floor. So I tend to pile things on my desk and have shoes lying on the floor or school bags. So I plan to clear off my desk and put my bags in my closet. Every year instead of a spring cleaning I do a summer cleaning. So that I don’t get bored or unmotivated, I either do one huge marathon clean or break it into sections. I’ll probably break it into sections this year. I start by recognizing what I need accomplished and by mixing up the difficult and easy tasks. So I have these huge closets that I need to go through along with all the drawers underneath. I also need to declutter my desk, shoe rack, and night stand. So generally I give myself like a week of very accomplishable things, so start harder and have the days get easier because that’s when your motivation wanes. So I’d probably get started with two closets (and their drawers) and my nightstand.
CLEAN
So you have to actually start at some point. Hopefully while you’re still motivated. Just turn the music on and get started. Most importantly, don’t stop until you’re done with your tasks. If you do, you’ll come back discouraged and just stop doing it. So you have to start with the intention of finishing. You can go to the bathroom or have a drink in your room, but don’t go eat, don’t go watch a show for a break. You don’t need a break and if you think you will, have more manageable tasks. Basically, all in all, just get it done. Break it down, turn on some music, and get it done!
